Core Values & Their Role in School Policies

1.Ilm (Knowledge & Learning) – Pursuit of Truth and Academic Excellence

Islamic Perspective: Knowledge is a divine trust and a means to understanding Allah’s creation. Learning should be holistic, integrating both religious and worldly sciences.

Application in School Policies:

Curriculum integrates Islamic teachings with modern sciences and humanities, promoting critical thinking, wisdom, and ethical inquiry.

Students are encouraged to seek beneficial knowledge (Ilm Naafi’) that contributes to both personal and societal well-being.

Islamic history, literature, and contributions to science, medicine, and philosophy are embedded into the curriculum.

2. Ihsan (Excellence & Integrity) – Striving for the Best in All Actions

Islamic Perspective: Excellence is not just about achievement but about sincerity in every action, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught, “Indeed, Allah has prescribed Ihsan in all things.”

Application in School Policies:

Students are taught to strive for excellence in their studies, character, and worship, embodying sincerity in their actions.

Integrity is emphasized in academic honesty, ethical leadership, and personal responsibility.

Teachers and staff model Prophetic character (Akhlaq), mentoring students in moral decision-making.

3. Adl (Justice & Fairness) – Building a Just Society

Islamic Perspective: Justice is a divine command. The Quran states, “Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives.” (16:90)

Application in School Policies:

School policies emphasize fairness, equity, and social responsibility, ensuring that every student is treated with respect and dignity.

Conflict resolution and discipline are rooted in the Prophetic model of mercy and fairness, focusing on reconciliation rather than punishment.

Curriculum includes discussions on Islamic social justice, ethics, and the responsibility of Muslims to stand against oppression.

4. Rahma (Compassion & Mercy) – Fostering a Caring Community

Islamic Worldview: The Prophet (PBUH) was sent as a “Mercy to all creation” (21:107). Our relationships should reflect kindness, understanding, and respect.

Application in School Policies:

Students are encouraged to embody empathy and service, recognizing their role in supporting those in need.

A safe and inclusive school environment ensures that all students feel valued and supported.

Programs such as charity drives, mentorship, and community outreach instill a sense of Ummah (global Muslim community) and responsibility toward others.

5. Amanah (Trust & Responsibility) – Leadership & Stewardship (Khilafah)

Islamic Perspective: Humans are stewards (Khalifah) of the Earth, entrusted with the responsibility to act with integrity and care for creation.

Application in School Policies:

Students are trained in ethical leadership and civic responsibility, preparing them to be conscious, responsible, and morally guided leaders.

Environmental stewardship programs encourage sustainable practices, such as recycling and conservation, aligning with the Islamic duty to protect the Earth.

The school cultivates a strong sense of personal accountability—whether in academics, behavior, or community service—reflecting the concept of Amanah.
